Replacement Air Filters
Replacement air filters make it easy to keep your air purifier, central air conditioning system, and furnace or heating system working optimally. Air purifier replacement filters can be purchased where you bought your air purifier just as central air conditioning replacement filters can be purchased from the central air conditioning installer. If you are using an electronic air cleaner, cleaning the filter or having replacement filters on hand is your option. Being sure to have replacement filters on hand makes that chore easier and something your are more likely to do. That's good for your equipment and your health.
Do you know what to look for when you purchase replacement air filters for your home? Many people turn to the most common air filters, but is that the one that will work best for your family and home? Maybe not. Central air conditioning replacement filters, air purifier replacement filters, and electronic air cleaner replacement filters are just a few of the air filters that are available for your home. How do you choose the one that will work for your home?
First, you need to determine what kind of system that you are putting the replacement air intake filters in. Do you need an air filter for your HVAC system, air purifier, or other air cleaner? Once you have this determined, then you need to see what size that you need. Replacement air filters come in many different sizes and shapes and it is important to get the correct size for your system. A filter that is too small can allow the particulates to go around the filter, rather than through it which can cause damage to your system and breathing problems. An air filter that is too large will most likely not fit into the system properly which will cause problems as well.
Air filters come in many different varieties that are efficient at trapping different amounts of particulates from the air. Fiberglass, pleated, HEPA, and foam are just a few of the stock replacement air filters that are available. Choosing a replacement air filter may be a little overwhelming at first with all of the choices available, but with a little information, you will be able to find the replacement home air filter that will meet your needs. Don't automatically choose the least expensive one. Choose the one that will work best for your needs and for your budget.
If you need central air conditioning replacement filters, check the MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) rate on the filter. MERV rates will tell you a great deal about how efficient the air filter is at trapping particulates. A MERV of 11 means that the replacement air filter can capture up to 95% of the contaminants that come into contact with the air filter, while a MERV of 6 means that the filter is efficient at trapping approximately 50% of the contaminants. Depending upon your budget, family, and needs, you can choose the filter that will work the best for your family. If you have a family member who is sensitive to allergens, then you will want to choose a replacement air filter with a higher MERV rating than a healthy family might need. Unfortunately, most air cleaner replacement filters do not have a MERV rating.
Manufacturers usually will have a particular filter that they recommend for their particular system, so keep that in mind when choosing your replacement air conditioner filters or replacement home air cleaner filters. They should also have a recommendation of how often you need to change out the filter or clean the filter. This information is very useful to you in setting a regular changing schedule to keep your air filter and system working as efficiently as possible. Clogged or dirty air filters cannot work properly to keep your air clean.
Don't let the replacement air filters selection overwhelm you. With a little information you are ready to find the one that is right for you, your family, and your home.
